Passkeys are available to sign in to your Ramsey account across Ramsey products, including SmartDollar, EveryDollar, Ask Ramsey, Financial Peace University, and more.
A passkey is a faster, safer, and easier way to sign in without having to remember another password.
What is a passkey?
A passkey lets you sign in using something you already use every day, such as:
- Facial recognition
- A fingerprint
- Your device PIN or lock screen
- Your password manager, such as iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager, or 1Password
Behind the scenes, passkeys use advanced encryption and are tied directly to you and your device. Ramsey Solutions never sees or stores your passkey information. We’re simply notified that your device approved the sign-in.
That means there’s no password to remember and no password for someone else to steal.
Why are passkeys better than passwords?
Passkeys offer several benefits over traditional passwords.
Passkeys have stronger security
- Passkeys can’t be guessed, reused, or stolen in a data breach.
- They help protect you from phishing scams and fake login pages.
- Your private credentials never leave your device.
Passkeys make signing in faster
- No typing long passwords.
- No password resets.
- Just approve the sign-in, and you’re done.
Passkeys are one less thing to remember
- You have one less account password to manage.
- Passkeys work with devices and tools you already use.
Passkeys keep your biometric data private
- Your fingerprint, face, or device PIN never leaves your device.
- Ramsey Solutions never sees or stores your biometric information. We’re simply notified that your device approved the sign-in.
How passkeys work at Ramsey Solutions
New accounts
When you create a new Ramsey account, you’ll be asked to set up a passkey. You can still use a password if you prefer.
Existing accounts
If you already have a Ramsey account, you may be asked if you want to create a passkey the next time you sign in. If you’re not ready yet, you can snooze the reminder and continue using your password.
How to set up a passkey
Setting up a passkey is quick and easy.
- Create or sign in to your Ramsey account.
- When prompted, choose Create a Passkey.
- Approve the setup using your device, such as facial recognition, fingerprint, or PIN.
Once your passkey is created, you’re all set.
Your passkey can be saved to your password manager or device. Depending on your settings, it may also be available across your devices.
How to sign in with a passkey
Once you’ve created a passkey:
- Enter your email address or choose Continue With a Passkey.
- Approve the sign-in on your device.
How to sign in on a new device
If you’re signing in on a new device that doesn’t already have your passkey:
- Select Continue With a Passkey.
- Follow the instructions to use the device where you created the passkey. You may be asked to scan a QR code.
- Choose whether to create a new passkey on the new device.
You can either:
- Follow the prompts to create a new passkey on the new device.
- Continue without creating a new passkey if you’re using a public or shared device.
Do not create a passkey on a public or shared device.
How to manage or remove a passkey
Right now, passkeys are managed through your device or password manager, not inside your Ramsey account.
To remove a passkey, you can:
- Delete it from your device settings.
- Remove it from your password manager.
What if I lose my device?
If you get a new device, your passkeys may come with you. Most passkeys are securely backed up and synced through your password manager or device cloud, such as Apple or Google.
If you can’t access your passkey, you can set up a password by selecting Need help signing in? on the sign-in page. You’ll be guided through creating a password using your email so you can access your Ramsey products.
What if my passkey doesn’t work?
If your passkey isn’t available on a device or your browser doesn’t support passkeys, you can set up a password by selecting Need help signing in? on the sign-in page.
You’ll be guided through creating a password using your email so you can access your Ramsey products.
Do I still need a password?
No. Once you create a passkey, you no longer need a password to sign in.
A password is still available as an option.
How do passkeys work with multi-factor authentication?
If you have multi-factor authentication, or MFA, set up on your Ramsey account and you create a passkey, MFA will still work as it does today.
You’ll still be prompted to provide a one-time password after signing in with your passkey.
Can I trust passkeys?
Passkeys are a modern security standard used by companies like Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and PayPal.
Ramsey Solutions uses passkeys because they’re proven, trusted, and built to help protect you.
